Sending faxes has long been the preferred method of sending documents from one party to another when a hard copy is required. A contract that requires a signature, a flyer that needs to be displayed any important document that requires the transfer of a hard copy can be and probably should be transferred by fax.
The good news is, in the age of the internet, faxing is easier now than it has ever been. You don't need a fax machine to fax anymore. All you need is a Gmail account.
Get Ready to Google Fax!
First, if you don't have one already, set up an email account with Gmail. Gmail is Google's email system, and without a Gmail account you won't be able to Google fax.
Next, find an online fax service. There are many possible options, as online faxing has become a booming business of late! A Google search for "fax from computer" or some similar terms should grab you a ton of results to sift through until you find the right service.
Once you've selected your fax service, simply compose a new message in your Gmail account and fix the document you want to fax to that message as an attachment. If you have a message for your fax's recipient, type in the body of the message.
Finally, send the message as you would any other email, with your recipient's fax number followed by the domain name of your fax service as the email address. For instance, if the company you chose was onlinefax.com, and your recipient's fax number was 212-555-1212, then you send your Gmail fax to 2125551212onlinefax.com it's as easy as that!
It should be noted that sending a Google fax isn't free, and the cost will depend on the service you select. So shop around! Find the cheapest, best fit for you. Before you know it, you'll be making every fax you have to send a Google fax!
